LG 225

in Net 10 Phones

The LG 225 is the new flip phone launched by LG for Net10. It is one of the few prepaid phones with a camera and performs very well as a phone too. The features that impress you in this phone are:

  • The phone includes 300 minutes and 60 days of service on activation.
  • It is a Single Rate phone charging 10¢ per minute for every call whether local, nationwide long distance or roaming. International calls to over 60 destinations 15 are available for just 15¢. Messaging charges are only 5¢ per message.
  • The phone is compact having dimensions of 3.36 x 1.89 x 0.90 inches. It is also lightweight and portable weighing a mere 3.27 ounces, not too light providing better grip.
  • The LG 225 phone has two screens. The one on the inside is a 65K color screen and the external one is monochromatic and of resolution 96 x 64 pixels. It displays the time and date and messages.
  • Airtime Minutes allows you to buy Ringtones, Graphics, News, Weather, Sports and more.
  • The 1000 mAh Li-Ion battery provided talktime of up to 3 hours and standby time of about 8 days which is pretty decent.
  • The usual features like call waiting, caller ID and voicemail are also present.
  • A caller ID is also present on the external screen.
  • The phone comes with a handsfree speaker which is very essential if you are driving or walking down the road.
  • The phone also includes a selection of polyphonic ringtones for you to choose from.
  • The phone is multilingual offering the options of Spanish and English.
  • The phonebook can hold up to 255 entries which is quite sufficient for most users.

However, the phone lets you down on these features:

  • The external screen does not display the Airtime Minutes left and the expiry date and hence it becomes necessary to open the flap often which uses up quite a bit of the battery life.
  • The camera, although an added bonus, does not take good pictures even with respect to a phone camera.
  • The headset is not very efficient as it transmits a lot of noise from the background.

The LG 225 is a good looking and decently performing phone. Apart from a few glitches here and there, it is a good option for buyers wanting a combination of style and performance.
